SPF, which means Sender Policy Framework, is an e-mail protection system, which is employed to confirm whether an e-mail message was sent by an official server. Using SPF protection for a given domain will stop the forging of email addresses generated with the domain. In simple words: enabling this feature for a domain creates a particular record in the Domain Name System (DNS) which includes the IP of the servers that are allowed to send e-mails from mailboxes under the domain. The moment this record propagates worldwide, it exists on all DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. When an e-mail message is sent, the initial DNS server it goes through tests if it comes from an official server. If it does, it's sent to the destination address, but when it doesn't come from a server indexed in the SPF record for the domain, it's discarded. Thus nobody will mask an email address to make it look as if you are distributing spam messages. This method is also called email spoofing.
SPF Protection in Cloud Website Hosting
SPF protection can be activated for every domain hosted in a cloud website hosting account on our cloud platform with no more than a few clicks. The function is accessible in the Emails section of our amazing Hepsia Control Panel and what is needed to enable it is to choose one of your domains from the drop-down menu and then enter the hostnames as well as the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the e-mail servers that will be authorized to send messages from your email addresses. As an added option you may also restrict the messages to be sent from your domain only if it has our MX records, in other words if our servers handle the email addresses for it, not a third-party supplier. This option offers you the highest level of safety, but it's not applicable when only your web site is on our servers while the email addresses for the domain are taken care of somewhere else. Regardless, our SPF protection service will keep your emails risk-free from being used for spam or scam purposes.
SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting
The SPF protection function is provided with all of the semi-dedicated hosting, so in case you host your domains in an account on our cloud hosting platform, you'll be able to activate this particular service without difficulty for any of your domain names. The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes as standard with the semi-dedicated accounts, features a rather intuitive interface, so you will not need to be proficient in the use of computers in order to secure your emails. You will simply need to type the hostname and the IP of each mail server that you would like to be permitted to send out emails from your addresses and right after that the updated record will be active for the domain name that you've chosen. As an extra option, we will also allow you to control the outgoing email messages and secure your mailboxes further by permitting messages to be sent only if the domain name involved features our MX records i.e. the email messages for the domain name should be taken care of here and not by another supplier. By doing this you'll have even better control and there will not be a chance for anybody to fake your e-mail addresses for malicious uses.
